I love my life in Korea, everything has been amazing, I have a lot of new friends and all the people who I met here are wonderful. The room I am staying in is very comfortable and I have everything that I need. The location is great, we have small markets very near, a bus station in a few meters and we can go to SNU by 15min walking so everything is awesome.
I have been taking 2 kinds of training programs, the first one is Taekwondo program at Kukkiwon. We have classes 3 times a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 9am to 12am and 2pm to 5pm) and sometimes depending on the occasion they add more practice days. For example, in last month, we added some more practicing days because of the Hanmadang 2017 competition. I have been learning many different things of Taekwondo such as the basic movements, “Poomse” and self-defence and all our Taekwondo masters are exceptional.
Sometimes, we have other kinds of activities like the last Taekwondo Leaders Forum 2017 which was very interesting and I could hear about the new technologies and innovation applied to Taekwondo. It was an amazing experience that allows us to know the world of taekwondo in a very complete way.
  • The second training is our language classes at Seoul National University, we have two classes every week on Tuesday and Thursday from 9am to 1pm. We have a lot of practice during the class and also homework and tests, the teachers are excellent, we have a lot of support from them. In last month, we did some small tests to try new language skills. I think that everyone in the group has great improvement since we came to Korea.
Talking of other experiences of mine here in Korea, I’m expecting to join to the basketball team of SNU next week, I already talked with the coach and he was very kind.
And I had my birthday party a couple of days ago. All my team got together and we had great food and delicious cake then we went to a Noraebang (Singing room) which was really fun.

On weekends, I often go to Hongdae (Hongik University) or Itaewon with my team friends and go out to market to buy some food, and take a rest after the weekdays training.
I love everything in Korea, the weather is great and the university is amazing, it is one of the best universities in Korea and I think it is one of the best in the world too. Kukkiwon, the World Taekwondo Headquarters, is the best place in the world to learn Taekwondo and the people are super kind.

It is really hard for me to find the right words to express my gratitude to CPI. All my life, I wished to come here and learn everything about Korea and also learn to speak Korean, since my mother is Korean so I’m half Venezuelan half Korean. But I couldn’t learn to speak Korean from my mother because she speaks really old dialect. She left Korea during World War II and never came back. Now that I’m here feeling like I am home in a way so I would like to thank you so much for this opportunity and experience which I will never forget. It is a dream-come-true.
